Facts:

  • The typical central air conditioning system is a split system, with an outdoor air conditioning, or "compressor bearing unit" and an indoor coil, which is usually installed on top of the furnace in the home.
  • Using electricity as its power source, the compressor pumps refrigerant through the system to gather heat and moisture from indoors and remove it from the home.
  • Heat and moisture are removed from the home when warm air from inside the home is blown over the cooled indoor coil. The heat in the air transfers to the coil, thereby "cooling" the air.
  • The heat that has transferred to the coil is then "pumped" to the exterior of the home, while the cooled air is pumped back inside, helping to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature.
  • Central air conditioning can also be provided through a package unit or a heat pump.

RESIDENTIAL

Don't panic!! Call Dependable Appliance Company!

Free estimates on new installation or replacement. Free estimates if we do the job.

We install high efficiency equipment and we are familiar with which brand and which type of equipment is the best for you. To determine this we consider the following:

  • factory warranty
  • price
  • sound level
  • dimensions
  • other important factors.

For example, one very famous brand of A/C equipment now has its factory branch in Mexico and of course the quality of the condenser units assembled in Mexico is not as good as comparable units assembled in the USA.

Another example. A furnace looks very good and is even produced in America, but the sound level is too high to be installed inside the house in a closet.

Another important thing we know (and some companies don't know this, or do not reveal it to their customers): It is a very common occurrence that the outside A/C unit (condenser) is broken and should be replaced. New condenser units are more efficient, but in order to take advantage of the high efficiency of the unit it is also necessary to replace the evaporator coils located above your furnace. This involves a lot of additional work (as well as the additional cost of the coils themselves), and the price will be higher than just the installation of the new condenser unit, up to about 50%. Not only is this extra work necessary to save energy, it is the law, and the factory warranty is only valid if this complete job is done.

But there is a better solution to this. Some (very few) condenser units don't require changing or altering existing evaporator coils. Installing these will save the extra work and cost to the customer.

How about increasing the factory warranty for equipment from 5 years to 10 years for just a one time $20 fee?

New equipment offers much higher efficiency than a system that is over 10 years old. Replacing this equipment will save you money month after month.
